Crack Packs for Free: Limited Booster Drafts
You don’t need to break the bank to crack fresh packs and battle for glory. Every LUG Con 2026 badge includes one FREE Magic: The Gathering Draft entry per day!
- Magic Mystery 2 Booster Drafts: Running twice daily on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM). Draft three packs of Mystery 2, build your deck on the fly, and battle through three 50-minute rounds.
- Universes Beyond: Spider-Man Booster Drafts: Web-sling into action on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 AM! Grab three booster packs of the Spider-Man set, construct a hero-filled deck, and compete across three timed rounds.
How Booster Drafting Works
Booster drafting is a fast-paced limited format where 2 to 8 players open fresh card packs, build 40-card decks on the spot, and play exciting 1-on-1 games lasting about 20 minutes each. Here is how you draft your deck at LUG Con:
- Take Your Seat: Players sit around the table in a semi-circle.
- Pack 1 (Pass Left): Open your first booster pack, secretly pick 1 card to keep without showing anyone, and pass the remaining cards to the player on your left. You’ll keep picking 1 card from the pack passed to you from the right until all cards in Pack 1 are taken.
- Pack 2 (Pass Right): Open your second pack, pick 1 card secretly, and pass the rest to the player on your right.
- Pack 3 (Pass Left): Open your third pack, pick 1 card secretly, and pass to the left again.
- Build & Battle: At the end of drafting, you will have roughly 45 cards. Combine your drafted picks with as many basic lands as you need to build a minimum 40-card deck and jump straight into 1-on-1 matches!
